After workshops for VET teachers in Poland

The last week (15.09-19.09) was very busy for the Polish team of evet2edu project as we were doing series of 4 workshops for teachers from VET schools. The workshops were co-organised with KOWEZiu. In total we trained 20 teachers who represent various fields (mechatronics, engineening, economy, architecture, logictic, etc.). We offered 3 learning paths:

  • Active online learning
  • Online group work
  • Recording professional development through evidence of competences and qualification online.

After research on user requirements (WP1) and course piloting (WP4) we were aware of issues that are the most critical elements for VET teachers: collaboration, practice, and competences. The workshops were designed in reference to evet2edu e-course and based on its key elements: the concept of e-tivities, social learning and evidence-based learning. Memories from last project meeting in Split, Croatia

At the end of March 2014 our evet2edu team met in Split for 4th project meeting at Obrotna Technicna Skola. Even that we all keep in touch and meet from time to time on various e-learning events, like EDEN conference, it is hard to say, write and think that it was our last meeting in this project.

We wrote a short summary after the meeting earlier before, but now it is the time for refreshing our memories from efficient cooperation, engaging discussions and social activities. Again thanks to Norwegian colleagues from HIST we can share with you short video from that memorable meeting.

To paraphrase Agnieszka, we would like to say from our heart “big THANK YOU” to teachers from Obrotna Technicna Skola. “We felt at home” :-)

E-course & handbook released as OER

The main project results – the online course and the facilitator’s handbook – were finally released as Open Educational Resources. After 3 months of piloting phrase, the course and the handbook were revised and made available online under Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported license so that the resources can be re-used, copied and modified according to the needs.

Both resources are downloadable from evet2edu repository in 9 languages: English, Polish, Czech, Croatian, Slovenian, Lithuanian, Spanish, Italian and Norwegian. The original course was also open on Moodle platform where all localised versions are accessible as OER and can be browsed with no registration/login.

What do we really look like? F2F meeting with PL learners

On Friday, 28.02.2014, we met our teachers after having finished the Polish edition of the course. It is just another evidence that the course is really cMOOC and it was great experience for us.

The idea of such a meeting had emerged during one of our videoconference in module 8. First the suggestion was to organise a closing video meeting to celebrate the success end of the course, but then one teacher asked why not to meet in real? And so it was. Continue reading

eVET2EDU channel on YouTube

On the Polish eVET2EDU course we have already reached to the Module 5 where learners are facing the challenge of making short educational videos and publishing them on YouTube. They are getting on well and they are experimenting, arranging themselves online and thinking of e-tivities – which is important for us as facilitators.

Polish learners had already created 21 videos gathered in playlist within the official eVET2EDU channel. The plan is to create different playlists for each partners’ country with videos from Module 5. So more will come.

From the previous blog post you  already know the magnificent promotional video from Online EDUCA Berlin 2013 which was created by our Norwegian colleagues from HIST. This is another thing that can be found on evet2edu YouTube channel. If you are interested how we were working during 3rd meeting in Palermo or would like to see how Spanish team conducted the videoconference in Module 3, you will find recording from these events on YouTube as well. YouTube here we come!

Have a nice watching :-)

Course translation is running

After finalising the course adaptation our project has moved to the next phrase – the translation. Each partner is working on national version of the course. This task requires not only translation but also localisation: adding national examples of online courses for analysis, examples of Open Educational Resources, tools used for videoconferencing and so on.

Our working space, and future learning environment is based on Moodle. On Moodle eVET2EDU 9 courses will be available for piloting and in future as open courses under Creative Commons BY licence.

Dissemination materials just arrived

For the dissemination activities small leaflet in a form of project business card was designed and printed. We have prepared it in all partners’ languages to maximase the scope of disseminating the project results. National versions of b-card will allow us to contact VET teachers and trainers on local events organised in partners countries for VET sector.

The concept map of the course released!

Effective work during the first day of 2nd project meeting at University of Murcia brought about a map with draft structure of the online course that we are going to revise in next months.

We have decided to add to our course three new modules:

  1. e-portfolio – this module will be horizontal one. We are going to incorporate e-portfolio process as a framework for the whole course. By this we mean evidence-based approach to design each module.
  2. designing and developing resources (focus on tools for development video/audio resourses, cartoons, infographics, posters, graphs, tools for publishing resources)
  3. re-using exisiting resources (focus on Open Educational Resources, Creative Commons, repositories and tools for searching and re-using resources) Continue reading

2nd project meeting at University of Murcia

7-8 of March we are coming to Murcia where our Spanish partner, University of Murcia, is hosting 2nd project meeting. After almost six months of intensive work, reseach, four meetings on videoconference we at last will meet face to face :)

The main foucs of the meeting is the online course adaptation (Workpackage 3) and structuring the final reaport from our interviews and desk research on best practices (Workpackage 1). The first day is going to be very active. We have tight agenda and plan to discuss project target group, summarise and conclude research on VET training needs with the scope of the course.
